A Groovy Tie-Dye Party!

My little cupcake turned four over the weekend and her party was a tie-dye theme! It was sooo much fun, and the cupcakes and cake were a lot of fun to make for her too! I did plain chocolate cupcake with tie-dye swirled buttercream frosting and sprinkles. Then for the cake I made a tie-dye cake, with vanilla cream filling and buttercream frosting pipped on to match her tie-dye shirt she wore that day. It was all a big hit!!!

Birthday Girl turns 2!

My dearest and oldest friend's daughter turned 2 this year and I got to bake her cake! It turned out really cute, I loved the color combination of the different shades of pinks, cream and chocolate brown. I filled the cupcakes with vanilla and chocolate mousse, and the giant cupcake had cookies and cream filling. Yum!

A castle fit for a princess!

A very good friend of mine asked me to make a castle cake for her little princesses 3rd birthday. It was a lot of work, but the pay off was worth it. It turned out just as I had hoped it would and it was enjoyed by all at the party!

Turtle Cake

For my birthday this year little cupcake made me a turtle cake. This was one of my favorite cakes my mom used to make when I was growing up. It's a rich chocolate cake, and baked inside is all the yummy stuff of a turtle candy... caramel, pecans, and chocolate chips. SO yummy! It was the perfect birthday and perfect cake!

Edited to add the family recipe I've used for years.
here's what you'll need:
1 german chocolate cake mix (and all ingredients to prepare cake)
1 Cup chopped pecans
1 Cup chocolate chips
1 bag of caramels
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
Preheat oven 350*. Prepare cake according to box. Pour 1/3 the cake batter in a 13x9 pan (i actually used a spring form pan for this cake but we typically use a 13x9 pan) bake cake for 15 minutes and remove from oven. While cake is baking, unwrap all the caramels and place in a small pot on the stove with sweetened condensed milk and cook on low until all caramels are melted in with the milk. Stiring often. Once it's melted remove from stove. Pour over the baked cake, top with the pecans, and chocolate chips, then pour remaining batter over the top and bake an additional 40 minutes. It's a little hard to tell if the cake is done because the toothpick will come out dirty with all the yummies that are inside the cake. So just keep an eye on it and make sure the center is set. Let cool completely then cut and fall in love!!! :)

A Cupcake Tower

For my grandfathers birthday this year I created a cupcake tower. My husband built this amazing cupcake stand to display them all on and it worked out perfect! The original plan was to make a variety of cupcake flavors and frostings, but things changed at the last minute. I went with a basic chocolate and a basic white cake and topped them with a chocolate fudge, a red buttercream, and a cream cheese frosting.

A berry fun birthday cake!

I LOVED Strawberry Shortcake Dolls as a child so doing this cake was so much fun! It was an eggless cake, due to allergies, but it baked up beautifully, and decorated wonderfully. I loved the accent of the fondant leaves and the pink and green balls around the edge. It was alot of fun to make and the customer enjoyed it!

- Everyone loved it! It was so cute and yummy!

German Chocolate Cake

For my dad's birthday he requested a german chocolate cake. I haven't made one from scratch before so I searched for a recipe that I thought looked the best and sounded the best and found this one and went with it. The end result was fantastic! We were in MI so I didn't have any of my baking supplies, but in a pinch if you need to pipe something just put the frosting in a big baggie and snip the corner off a little bit. Worked like a charm.
Happy Birthday Dad! Hope you enjoyed the cake!

NASCAR Birthday

We're big NASCAR fans in our house... we all have our favorite drivers and hubby and I have been lucky enough to enjoy a few races live. (which if you haven't ever done and get the opportunity to do so.... DO IT. It's the most fun!!!) So when I got an order for a NASCAR cake I had a lot of ideas in my mind already. I thought about doing a race track but the kit I needed couldn't get here in time for me to do it. Then I thought a big tire would be so cool. Unfortunately also too time consuming since we were going out of town. So I asked what his favorite driver was... much to my surprise it was my hubby's favorite driver too. Kasey Kahne. (can you say HOT!!!) So I thought about it and this was what we ended up with. I was happy with it and think the costumer was too!

A very Charlie Brown Birthday

I tested out a new chocolate fudge recipe when I made this cake and lets just say.... it is now my new favorite chocolate frosting. It was sinfully delicious! This customer was looking for a cake for her boyfriend for his birthday... all she said was chocolate was a must and he loved Charlie Brown. So I went with the classic Charlie Brown shirt. So cute!

Happy Birthday Halloween Party!

I had a Happy Birthday Halloween Party order to do today! I love the way they turned out! The pumpkin cake is a white cake with buttercream frosting and a Happy Birthday message to the little boy!

Also for the birthday party I made chocolate cupcakes decorated as little happy vampires! The customer was THRILLED with how they turned out! Hope that little Carter enjoys his Halloween Birthday Party this year!

Beautiful Fall Flowers

I had a birthday cake order for today and all the woman asked for was a white cake with white icing. Um, ok.... now I am all about color. I don't really do white so well. So after suggesting a few things to her... I still got a white cake with white icing is fine. As I was leaving though she said "well I do like flowers"... OK now I got something I can work with. I thought about it the whole way home and decided that the color combination of these flowers would be beautiful on top of a crisp white cake. I am happy with the way it turned out and the customer LOVED it.

A Barney Birthday

A good friend of mine asked me if I could make her daughter a birthday cake and cupcakes for her 2nd birthday. I of course jumped at the opportunity. I was a little nervous at first because I don't really do character cakes.... but I think Barney turned out GREAT! And the cupcakes looked fabulous as well. Big peaks of buttercream frosting pipped high on top with multicolored nonpareils! Yummy. Barney was a labor of love indeed! All the pipping and detail that went into it to make it perfect for her really paid off because she LOVED it. And so did her dear little daughter! Yeah! Happy Birthday Maddie!!!

It's my birthday and let someone else take care of the cake! Bit of Swiss made my birthday cake this year and it's something I always look forward to.

Just imagine it....

OH MY GOODNESS. It's ridiculously good. Melt in your mouth. Leave you wanting just a sliver more GOOD! Thanks mom & dad. You all rock!
